چکیده

We propose a primal-dual path-following Mehrotra-type predictor-corrector method for solving convex quadratic semidefinite programming (QSDP) problems. For the special case when the quadratic term has the form 1 2 X •(UXU), we compute the search direction at each iteration from the Schur complement equation. We are able to solve the Schur complement equation efficiently via the preconditioned symmetric quasiminimal residual iterative solver with two appropriately constructed preconditioners. Numerical experiments on a variety of QSDPs with matrices of dimensions up to 2000 are performed and the computational results show that our methods are efficient and robust. Our methods can also be extended to linear SDP problems with upper bound constraints on primal matrix variables.

Primal-dual path-following algorithms for circular programming

Circular programming problems are a new class of convex optimization problems that include second-order cone programming problems as a special case. Alizadeh and Goldfarb [Math. Program. Ser. A 95 (2003) 3-51] introduced primal-dual path-following algorithms for solving second-order cone programming problems. In this paper, we generalize their work by using the machinery of Euclidean Jordan alg...

A polynomial-time inexact primal-dual infeasible path-following algorithm for convex quadratic SDP

Convex quadratic semidefinite programming (QSDP) has been widely applied in solving engineering and scientific problems such as nearest correlation problems and nearest Euclidean distance matrix problems. In this paper, we study an inexact primal-dual infeasible path-following algorithm for QSDP problems of the form: minX{12X • Q(X) + C •X : A(X) = b, X 0}, where Q is a self-adjoint positive se...

An Interior Point Algorithm for Solving Convex Quadratic Semidefinite Optimization Problems Using a New Kernel Function

In this paper, we consider convex quadratic semidefinite optimization problems and provide a primal-dual Interior Point Method (IPM) based on a new kernel function with a trigonometric barrier term. Iteration complexity of the algorithm is analyzed using some easy to check and mild conditions. Although our proposed kernel function is neither a Self-Regular (SR) fun...

An inexact primal-dual path following algorithm for convex quadratic SDP

We propose primal-dual path-following Mehrotra-type predictor-corrector methods for solving convex quadratic semidefinite programming (QSDP) problems of the form: minX{2X • Q(X) + C • X : A(X) = b,X 0}, where Q is a self-adjoint positive semidefinite linear operator on Sn, b ∈ Rm, and A is a linear map from Sn to Rm. At each interior-point iteration, the search direction is computed from a dens...

Asymptotic behavior of the central path for a special class of degenerate SDP problems

This paper studies the asymptotic behavior of the central path (X(ν), S(ν), y(ν)) as ν ↓ 0 for a class of degenerate semidefinite programming (SDP) problems, namely those that do not have strictly complementary primal-dual optimal solutions and whose “degenerate diagonal blocks” XT (ν) and ST (ν) of the central path are assumed to satisfy max{‖XT (ν)‖, ‖ST (ν)‖} = O(√ν). We establish the conver...
